As an institution that sprang from the religious upheavals of the 18th century in the English colonies in America, Princeton was founded at a time of great change. In the process of establishing itself, the University played a key role in shaping a new nation and in laying the foundation for higher education in the United States.

Today, Princeton is regarded as one of the top universities in the world. It educates students for a variety of careers and leadership roles, and serves as a nexus of discovery.
